Target Beauty Box

What's in
the box?

Target has a seasonal beauty box that ships four times a year.  This box is $5 and sells out fast - it is not a subscription you can sign up to keep getting; it's first come, first serve.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost gel-cream - ($17.99)  This is a tiny little gel cream.  It is to moisturize your neck and face.  It will not last very long to test out but I will use it.  I will probably not be buying this in full size but it is a good throw in your purse in case of emergencies moisturizer.

Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational Lip C0lor -  ($5.49)  This is one of my favorite drug store brands and I love that there is a lip product in the box.

Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo - ($2.50~)
My only complaint is not having a conditioner to go with this.  I cannot wait to try it.

TREsemme TRES Two Extra Hold Hairspray -  ($1.47)  This is probably the item in the box I am least excited about.  I rarely use hairspray so this will last forever.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Spray & Set -  ($13.29)  I use a setting spray daily so I love getting this in my beauty box.  I did not know L'Oreal made one either, so this will be nice to sample.

This is a great box and well worth the $5 plus tax that was charged for it.  I am so happy I grabbed this one in time before it sold out.  The box also included a $3 off your next $15 beauty purchase at Target.

Sunday Funday!

I have several items in my carts at Ulta, Sephora, and Birchbox right now!  I love putting stuff in carts and then deciding if I am still in love with them later.  I am an impulse buyer so this helps me think about things for a few days to determine if I really need what I have in my cart or just want it for whole everyone is getting it thing!

Ulta has a store about 35 minutes from my house that I usually have to save up to go to because I cannot leave it without spending over $100.  Right now, in my cart, is the Japonesque Color set.  It is so pretty.  It is $28.

I also have a L'Oreal Color Riche Lipcolor in Spice.  This looked so pretty on the You-tube person I saw it on so I had to add it to my shopping cart.  This lipstick is $7.99.

I had a Beauty Blender in my Sephora bag but now that I am getting one with my Birchbox, I took it out!  I do have this Tony Moly Bbo Bbo lip balm in my cart still.  This is $9.

In my Birchbox cart, I have several non-makeup items.  Kate Spade makes this really cute book mug.  It is $18.

I also have the cutest little macaroon trinket box in my cart. I really love it!  These are $13.95 and I really want the darker pink one and the peach one!

My favorite color right now in makeup is peach!  I love peach - it is my second favorite color next to sky blue.  I have a few of these items (#6, #8, and #11) I but need them all!

How was your Sunday?  Any good shopping this weekend?

Walmart Winter Beauty Box 2014

What's in

the Box?

I realized I had not reviewed the Walmart beauty box even though I had posted a photo of it on Instagram.  Walmart sends out a quarterly beauty sample box for $5 - which is basically the shipping - this really shows me how much value our Ipsy and Birchbox subscriptions are.

L'oreal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Day Cream - (full size $24.49)  This came with two samples but I have used one of them.  I love it - the smell - the way my skin feels after - definitely something I see myself buying.

Pond's Rejuveness Anti-Wrinkle Cream -   (full size $8.97)  I am not a huge fan of the Ponds brand but this is a nice sample and I will try it out.  It does not smell bad - I cannot stand a face cream that smells gross.

Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes - ($.80 - full size $4.67) - Another item from the Pond's brand - but I know I will like these.  I love getting cleansing clothes in boxes because I use them and they are handy.  This one did not make my eyes sting or irritate my skin.

Nivea Cocoa Butter - (full size $4.97)  I like the Nivea brand but wish the sample size had been bigger. I am a huge fan of cocoa butter - it is one of my favorites.   There just is not enough in this sample.  It would probably do one arm.  The coupon is to save $1 on any size bottle.

Aveeno daily Moisturizing lotion - (full size $8.97)I like the Aveeno brand and it is good for people with eczema.  This was a nice size sample too - nice little bottle you can throw in your purse or diaper bag.  I might just stick this in the diaper bag I got for my sister.

Olay Tone Perfecting Cream - (full size 21.95)  This is a cute little sample and since it only goes on your face, may last awhile.  I love getting moisturizers is boxes - use them twice a day.  This brand is one I believe in too.

John Freida Volume packets -   (full size $5.47)  I am not a fan of shampoo and conditioner packets mainly because I have a lot of hair and they rarely have enough product to notice if there is any difference.  I like the John Freida brand but I already have hair with tons of volume.  Volume is not my problem - it's frizziness and dryness.  I will pass these on to a friend.

L'oreal Color Vibrancy Shampoo and Conditioner with an Instant Shock treatment -   (full size $5.97)  I do color my hair so I will try this out but like I said there is not enough to try for several days.  I do like that it comes with a shock treatment sample.  I use a John Freida product right now called Radiant Red color conditioner but I am almost out.

Many of the boxes also received a lip product but they ran out of those samples so we were given a substitute item.  I do not know which of these was that product.  I should also tell you this is the older box that goes out.  If you are younger, there is a different box that does not focus so much on anti-aging creams.  I would have been a little happier to get a box with a Cover Girl lipstick or lip gloss but this was okay.  I like trying out new stuff in smaller sizes before committing to buy full size and hate it.

Allure Sample Society October 2014

WHAT'S IN THE BOX?

Sample Society is a monthy beauty box that comes to your door for $15 a month plus tax.  It also includes a $10 your $50 purchase on beautybar.com, so that helps refund some of the cost of your box if you like coupons!

The sample society box is a cute, sturdy, red box that you could re-use for lots of things.

The little magazine that comes with the box is the most detailed information card I have ever seen.  It adds so much to the box.

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara in Black -  ($16.80)  This is a deluxe size sample of the mascara - very nice.  I have so many mascara tubes that it will be years before I have to buy another one.  This is the value of the box, so I am thrilled.

Estee Lauder Enlighten Dark Spot Correcting Night Serum - ($14.47)  This item caused quite a stir this month when we were told it would not be the full size we were led to believe when they first gave us a sneak peak at it.  I was already subbing this and was not too upset to get the smaller size.  But I understand if the reason you subbed was for this full size serum and then were told it was the small sample size.

L'oreal Total Repair Extreme Shampoo and Conditioner -   ($1.94) I am not that fond of getting shampoo and conditioner in my sub boxes.  I do, however, like it better when it is nice size samples in tubes instead of packets.   I have thick, longer hair and those packets are a tease.   I can also pop these in my travel bag for hotel trips instead of buying small ones from Walmart - so they save me money.

Emi Jay Hair Ties - ($6.60)  My daughter and I both use these every day with our long hair so getting them in a sub box is perfect.  You lose so many that they constantly need replaced.  I do love these shades too.

I was missing an item from my box this month - the Bond No. 9 perfume sample was not in my box when I opened it.  Very sad!  I e-mailed Sample Society and they could not send me a new one but are refunding me $3 for the missing sample.  I would have preferred to get the perfume added to a future box but I understand how hard that would be for the company so I will take my refund.  These fragrances looked very fun though so I am still sad I won't be sampling them.   One of the following three was in the box this month:  High Line, Chelsea Flowers or Chinatown.

All things considered, I was very pleased with my Sample Society box.  There was a value of $43 in my box.  I was considering cancelling this sub, but I think I will hold out through Christmas to see how it goes.

What did you think of the Sample Society box this month?  Are you re-subbing or waiting to see what spoilers come out for November?
